How do I join the tennis club?
As a multi-sport club, it is necessary to both become a member of Terenure Sports Club, and to
separately become a tennis member. There are separate fees to join Terenure Sports Club and to
join the tennis section. Both the Terenure Sports Club and the tennis section fees are due annually
in January. Sometimes there are special offers of extended periods for the Terenure Sports Club fee,
but the tennis section fee is always due in January.
To join the Tennis Section of Terenure Sports Club one needs to go to https://www.terenuresportsclub.ie/membership/ and pay online for both the Terenure Sports Club membership and Tennis section fee.
Please go to https://www.terenuresportsclub.ie/membership/ to
get details of all membership and section fee costs and to pay online.
Please note your application is subject to approval by the Executive Committee and in the case of not being approved, you will be fully refunded.
How soon will I be able to start playing?
Memberships are processed once a month. It may take a couple of weeks to be set up as a new
member. Processing starts once we have received the confirmation from the Terenure Sports Club
executive that the membership fees have been paid.
New members to the club will receive a membership card and parking disc from the Executive. New
Members are welcomed onto the main WhatsApp groups and receive a welcoming email giving
details of how to access the courts and different tennis activities.
We use Club Manager 365 to book courts, and to manage tennis ladders. Once your membership has
been processed, you will receive login details from the Club Manager 365 system.
I have joined the cricket/rugby section. Can I play tennis?
Any member of Terenure Sports Club can join more than one sports section, provided the relevant
section fee has been paid. When we receive notification of payment of the tennis section fee, you
will receive the tennis section welcome email, and you will be set up on Club Manager 365 to access
the court booking system.
Can I bring a guest to play with me?
Members are allowed to bring in guests on an occasional basis at off-peak times. When booking
courts, there is a facility to enter +guest on the Court Management System. You must enter the
guest information when making a booking.
I am joining mid-year. Can I get a discount?
Membership is paid on a calendar year basis, irrespective of when a member joins. Membership
dues are not discounted if a new member joins later in the year. The membership cost at Terenure
Sports Club is great value and considered quite modest compared with other clubs.
How do I find out what tennis activities are going on?
When you join, we will provide you with information on how to access various different tennis
activities ranging from social tennis (Thursday evenings), participation in league tennis, tournaments
and competitions. We have an active membership of over 300 tennis players, and have What’s App
groups that facilitate making contacts for new members, daytime tennis, tennis fitness, junior
activities and coaching.
Is there a Social Tennis option?
Social Tennis is hugely popular and runs on Thursday nights from 7:30 until 9:30/10, followed by
drinks at the bar. It is a great way to meet new members and to enjoy an evening of relaxed tennis.
Players of all standards are welcome. Courts are assigned for a period of time over the evening,
allowing people to play with multiple different groups of comparable abilities.
Only members of Terenure Tennis can play on social nights and it is necessary to pre-register in
advance, due to the numbers that wish to play.
Can I have a tour of the club to see the facilities?
We are an all volunteer organization and do not have the capacity do to tours for prospective
members. If you are interested in checking out the facilities in advance of joining, we would
encourage you to visit the club on Thursday evenings, after 7:30, when social tennis is taking place.
A coordinator will be able to give you an overview of the available facilities and answer some
questions. The club occasionally hosts open days, advertised on our website or Facebook page, that
allow prospective members to look around the club.
